Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of heroes who will split off from the main group to begin their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might appear out of place, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then settled his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could enable the team reach locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them few options but to travel to the remote area in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Explorers and Planners tables.
Audiences can expect discovering which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
