Two Detentions Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
